Susan Kuhling, PT graduated as a Physical Therapist from the University of Delaware in 1976. She worked at Poudre Valley Hospital treating orthopedic diagnoses, including knee, hip and shoulder replacements, fractures and other injures. Neurological patients included post stroke rehab and post-traumatic brain injuries.

1983-1996 Susan specialized in cardiac rehabilitation, working with patients following cardiac surgeries and after myocardial infarction.  Also included in this group was a patient with bilateral lung transplants and others with cardiac infections.  With all of these patients exercise was individually designed according to other underlying physical situations such as back injuries or joint arthritis to achieve each persons’ maximum rehab potential.

1996 to 2009 Susan worked in a variety of home care situations covering numerous conditions. Improvisation of exercises with minimum equipment to acquire maximum benefit was her forte allowing patients to progress from being homebound to easily accessing the community.

2005 to 2008 Susan specialized in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy and balance problems to restore sensation and safety with gait.  Including post chemotherapy and diabetic neuropathies

Susan joined Advanced Spine Physical Therapy in 2008, treating patients following breast reconstruction, enhancement, or reduction and post mastectomy to improve shoulder mobility and improve the appearance of the implants and overall posture. Spine conditions that Susan sees are all types post surgical, strains, and auto accident related injuries assisting them to regain function, lessen or resolve pain and strengthen without damaging a surgical repair and in some cases avoiding back surgery altogether. Posture correction is rewarding with adults and teens that can strengthen and correct what can become a debilitating situation with scoliosis. Susan is also working with patients with balance and gait difficulties as well as orthopedic problems.

Susan’s attention to detail has assisted countless patients with correction of gait patterns to alleviate a variety of pain syndromes in an effort to avoid surgery.

Susan is the Clinic Coordinator for the Breast Cancer and Neuropathy programs and is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certified.
